Celebrity stylists are invaluable resources if you want to peek behind the curtain of Hollywood fashion. While you might see their handiwork all over the red carpet and on Instagram, you don’t always know the ins and outs of the getting-ready process. For instance, I’ve been fascinated to learn about what brands celebrities actually buy for themselves given the fact that they are often gifted with or loaned many of the things they wear.
So far, I’ve tapped stylist Tiffany Briseno to shed light on the jeans and underwear that celebrities buy for themselves, and now we’re turning the spotlight on sneakers. Below, Briseno shares her expert opinion on the most popular sneakers in the celebrity world and why they reign supreme.
1. Off-White
“Virgil Abloh is synonymous in the sneaker market and for good reason,” Briseno told Who What Wear. “His designs are both iconic and totally wearable. He’s done numerous collabs and always turns out pieces that are part art, part sneaker. His signature orange detailing and refreshing approach to sneaker designs is a magnet amongst celebs.”

“Classic and instantly cool,” Briseno told us. “This brand is still a force in the market after almost 60 years in the running. There are many celebs that not only live in Converse but wear Converse in both casual and more formal settings. I’m here for it! You can wear converse with literally any look.”

“There is no sneaker listicle out there that doesn’t mention the iconic Jordans!” Briseno told Who What Wear. “Sneaker culture as we know it today really began when Jordan 1 hit the market in the mid-’80s. Not only are Jordans frequently spotted among celebs, but the brand continues to drop hot styles with some of music’s biggest names like J Balvin and Travis Scott.”

“What can I say? Adidas was the first brand to collab with non-athletes and enter the world of pop culture, teaming up with Run-D.M.C. back in the 1980s. Fast-forward to their smashing success collab with Kanye West on Yeezy. Also, a more recent collab with Bad Bunny continues to showcase their ability to stay on-trend and work with the best artist. This makes Adidas an obvious go-to for celebs alike.”
